The mural STEM of the Future, created by Orticanoodles, extends along one of the underpasses of Milano Rogoredo FS/MM. This is the second redevelopment project involving the station’s tunnels, following Future Storylines, by the same artistic collective.

The work is dedicated to women who work in STEM fields, depicted not as isolated figures, but as a community of researchers, engineers, analysts, and experimenters, capable of imagining and building new possibilities.
The initiative was born within the framework of Saipem’s Sustainability Plan, which conceptualized the work, created in a participatory art context that saw the collaboration of Saipem professionals engaged in issues of female empowerment in technical-scientific disciplines, whose experiences contributed to the construction of the visual narrative of the work. The mural transforms a place of daily transit into a space for storytelling and sharing.

The scenes create a visual journey dedicated to personal and professional growth, where the presence of children alongside women in STEM highlights the value of curiosity and passion for science from an early age, as well as the importance of positive role models capable of challenging gender stereotypes.
For the execution, high-resistance acrylic emulsion paints and the pouncing technique (spolvero) were used to ensure a bright, clear, and well-defined figurative representation. The vibrant color fields accompany the path of passersby with a harmonious rhythm and impart to the public space a message of freedom, empowerment, and the fulfillment of dreams and aspirations.
