The International Pre-Columbian and Amerindian Textiles Conferences represent a well-established tradition of academic discussion between scholars from all over the globe on the complex world of archaeological and ethnographic textiles from Latin America.
Started in the 2000s in Barcelona (Autonomous University) by Victòria Solanilla, they have continued in Paris (Museum of quai Branly), Copenhagen (Textile Research Centre) and Brussels (Museum of Art and History). In 2019, in Brussels, the Museum of Cultures in Milan was suggested as the venue for the 2022 Congress.

The event will develop in mixed mode: the speeches, in English and Spanish, will take place or be transmitted at the MUDEC – Museo delle Culture and streamed online.

Two keynote speeches, translated in Italian, will be given by Claudia Rocha Valverde and Arabel Fernández.

Las Jornadas Internacionales de Textiles Precolombinos y Amerindianos representan una consolidada tradición de intercambio entre académicos de todo el mundo sobre el complejo universo de los textiles de interés arqueológico y etnográfico de América Latina.
Iniciadas en las décadas del 2000 en Barcelona (Universidad Autónoma) por Victòria Solanilla, han continuado en Paris (Museo de quai Branly), Copenhague (Centro de Investigación Textil) y Bruselas (Museo de Arte e Historia). En las Jornadas de Bruselas en el año 2019, se propuso al Museo de las Culturas de Milán como sede del Congreso 2022.

El evento se desarrollará en modalidad mixta: las conferencias, en inglés y español, se dictarán o proyectarán en el MUDEC – Museo delle Culture y se transmitirán en streaming por Internet.

Dos ponencias magistrales, traducidas al italiano, serán llevadas a cabo por Claudia Rocha Valverde y Arabel Fernández.
