Among the main contributions of abstract muralism in Milan, the Argentine artist hosted by the Question Mark gallery on the occasion of Fuorisalone 2016 has permanently transformed the imposing facade of the Milanese building overlooking the Naviglio Pavese.

Elian’s style is recognized all over the world for the use of a limited palette of extremely contrasting colors animated in unexpected and symbiotic geometric shapes, which blend, allowing a hidden dimension and unexpected depth to transpire from the surfaces.

Among the few works by Elian in Italy, on the occasion of the inauguration we recall the words of the artist: “The best works are not necessarily the largest: it is not the size that determines whether a work is pleasant or not. We know well that painting a facade with these characteristics is not easy: [a similar work can be] the beginning of a tradition, or the other way around, it can provoke negative comments on how the heritage is managed, especially in such a well-planned city like Milan. Urban art must aspire to be a detonator, a debate switch… The worst thing would not be to get a negative feedback, but that nothing would happen “.
