The walls of the former Cascina Case Nuove on via Paravia are being colored with a new installation created by the Spanish artistic collective Boa Mistura, founded in Madrid in 2001 and active in cities around the world.
The collective is already known in Milan for creating the mural dedicated to the San Siro district, painted on the facades of the building housing the Social Services as part of the project ‘Un nome in ogni quartiere,’ promoted by the Office of Art in Public Spaces. The intervention on via Paravia thus represents a continuation of a broader activity of transforming urban space in San Siro.

The installation, inlaid in the arches of the walls, represents the word Libertà (i.e. ‘Freedom’), whose anamorphic lettering, typical of Boa Mistura’s style, is created through the arrangement of colored bricks. The project is the winner of the call promoted by the Idealista Foundation of Madrid – which over the past 15 years has created a collection of photographs of site-specific works designed for urban spaces. The realization of Libertà, curated by the Fondazione Terzoluogo ETS, represents the culmination of urban regeneration interventions adjacent to the structure of the former Cascina Case Nuove, planned under the ‘Pinqua’ program.
