On Consolini street 66, Leticia Mandragora’s mural portrays Silvia De Natale, midfielder for Partizan Bonola, a popular Gallaratese football team, as a full-length figure in a range of colours from blue to purple. The work aims to convey the values associated with sport, which is recognised as an instrument of integration and redemption, capable of breaking down barriers and uniting people across linguistic and cultural divides. The artist hopes that the mural will “inspire other girls to follow their dreams”.
The work is part of the MANIFESTIVAL project, along with murals by JDL, Nabla & Zibe, BTOY and Medianeras, which will be created in the Gallaratese district in 2023 under the artistic direction of the Orticanoodles collective. The murals deal with different themes, chosen through a participatory process in the neighbourhood: sport, music, women, nature, rights.
MANIFESTIVAL is a project of the Arrigo and Pia Pini Foundation, with the contribution of the Fondazione Comunità di Milano, under the patronage of the 8th district of Milan City Council, in collaboration with CODICI Research and Intervention, and with the support of the Office for Art in Public Spaces of Milan City Council.
